Inside Komitas: A Listening Guide to Anahit Nersisyan’s Album

Komitas is a natural starting point for listeners discovering Anahit Nersisyan’s recordings. Apple Music lists the album’s release as May 5, 2015, with 13 tracks and a running time of approximately 55 minutes.

Thirteen songs, one focused collection

The official track list begins with “Garouna,” “Shogher Jan,” and “Cirani Dzar.” It continues through “Chinar Es,” “Qele-Qele,” “Krounk,” and “Gakavik,” before reaching “Alagiaz-Khnki Dzar,” “Yerkinkn Ampel E,” “Qeler-Tzoler,” “Es Aroun,” “Kujhn Ara,” and “Antouni.” These spellings follow the artist’s published album listing; transliterations can differ between music services.

Two ways to listen

For a complete introduction, play the album in its published sequence. Give each song its own space, noticing the way a new opening changes your attention after the previous piece ends. You do not need to identify every musical device to follow the relationship between the voice and its accompaniment.

For a shorter first visit, choose three titles from different points in the sequence, then return to the full recording. Keep a note of the songs you want to revisit. This makes a second listening more personal than simply replaying the most familiar title.

Continue with the performances

The Music page brings together the track list and listening services. The Videos page offers another perspective through filmed performances. Treat the album and the videos as separate recordings unless a particular release explicitly identifies them as the same performance.
